Yoga - Yoga for controlling Hay fever




Hay fever also referred as Seasonal nasal allergies is triggered mainly due to pollen in the air. The symptoms are often very irritating and unbearable. Several conventional medications have been developed to cure the symptoms. Further more yoga also provides with special poses and practices which help to alleviate the symptoms of allergies, including runny noses and inflamed sinuses. Well but when practicing these special yoga techniques one needs to understand that yoga is a gentle and slow treatments but cures the problems for long time.

Yoga - Recommended Breathing Exercises

1. Skull Shining Breath - Kapalabhati Pranayam
This technique consists of a series of rapid forceful exhalation and passive inhalations. Kapalabhati has a traditionally proven belief to clear out the nasals passages where allergens lurk and thus offer some relief from irritation. This technique leads to heat generating breath, thus is advisable to limit to a single round in the initial times.

2. Alternate Nostril Breathing - Nadi Sodhana
This exercise is a claming, balancing breath. When practicing this yoga the person is required to breathe through both nostrils. At times it may not be possible if the person is extremely congested.

Yoga - Recommended Poses

1. Shoulder stand - Salamba Sarvangasana
Salamba Sarvangasana is very effective pose for hay fever. The technique involves shoulder stand and other inversions. These inversions open the nasal passages and improve the drainage. Practices this yoga regularly but not for longer durations.

2. Bridge Pose - Setu Bandha Sarvangasana
Bridge Pose - Setu Bandha Sarvangasana is practiced extensively for curing allergic problems such as hay fever. This asana or pose involves special backbends, which help to expand the chest, and lungs, giving increased breathing capacity on practicing regularly

Recommend Yoga type

For effective curing of Hay fever using Yoga the best is Hatha Yoga, Iyengar, or gentle Vinyasa. These yoga methods involve specialized stretching of the body without generating too much heat. However for allergic treatments avoid practicing vigorous yoga asana such as

Bikram and Ashtanga.
Yoga will treat the allergic problems from the root cause making the body stronger to fight the allergens. Yoga is the best non-medicinal approach for treating Hay Fever.
