Hay fever is scientifically called as Seasonal allergic rhintis. This problem is also called as pollinosis as pollen grains are one of the major allergens that aggravate the Hay fever symptoms. Hay fever symptoms mainly include coughing, headache, itching in the nose, mouth, eyes, and throat and over the skin. Often hay fever also leads to watering eyes, sore throat, fever and sneezing. Since pollens are the major allergens those who are suffering with the hay fever problems need to pay special attention to the lawn and garden.
Lawn care is very essential
As discussed above pollen is the major allergen that aggravates Hay fever. As for the reason those patient who have lawns and gardens in the house should mow the lawn regularly especially during the springs and summers. Regularly mowing will control the pollen growth. Keep the grass short enough to prevent it from producing flowers. And after cutting try not leave the cut grass o the lawn. Similarly to prevent the pollens from traveling freely water the lawn regularly. When mowing the lawn never do it by your self. It is always better to get it done by someone else. In case you are required to do make sure that you use a pollen mask. Take special care from May to August these are allergy season of grass pollens.
Other Lawn tips
To avoid allergens it is advisable to avoid privet hedging. Similarly avoid using ferns in the garden they can affect. Further more avoid plants, which have hairy stems, and leaves, for instance Geranium, Iris, Clematis Plant low allergen plants such as non -scented honeysuckle. Rose, lavateria, Mahonia, Cotoneaster, Rhododendron, Skimmia, Spirea, Syringa, and Ribes. Similarly one can also replace the grass with pebble, shingle or decking. The artificial turf used on tennis courts and football fields can also be a better alternative. Further more incase if there is compost system in the garden cover it properly to prevent the allergens from coming out.
Taking such cares is very important to curb the hay fever causes before the y aggravate the symptoms.
