There is nothing that can ruin your day like allergic reactions, and as a longtime allergy sufferer, I should know. The discomfort of this condition is rather difficult to describe. For me, my allergic reactions are almost always caused by pollen and such things in the air. I will be walking down the street, feeling just about fine, and all of the sudden, allergic reactions will strike. My nose will get stuffy and itchy, my eyes will get watery, and I will suddenly have difficulty breathing. Alternately, sometimes my allergic reaction is more subtle than that. Occasionally, I will wake up, already fully congested and just absolutely miserable. As the day goes on, my throat will continue to itch, and the more time I spend outside, the worse things get until the allergic reactions are just too much and I have to lie down.

Of course, my allergic reactions are unusually strong, and I generally have to undergo more allergy treatment than most sufferers. Many people use antihistamines to treat allergic reactions and just end it there, but for me it is not all so simple. Not only do I have to use an antihistamine, but I actually have to use two of them. I also have to use a decongestant. On top of it all – as if that were not enough already – I have to get shots for my allergic reactions. These shots make my arms swell up for hours some time, in which case I have to get adrenaline shots just to make the allergic reactions calm down. Lets face it; I'm a wreck.

Now, what I've been doing recently has gone some ways towards making my allergic reaction not so severe as it was before. I have been finally following my doctors tips. First of all, I have been enthusiastically cleaning out my house, making sure that dust and mold have no place to hide out and make me sick. At first, this stirs up my allergic reactions, but eventually it causes them to subside once all of that junk is out of the air. Besides this, I have been eating right. This means cutting out fatty food, and all things caffeinated or processed. Also, allergic reactions can be decreased according to some experts, by eating more vegetables and simple whole grains. All of this has done fabulous things towards making me feel healthier than ever, and that is the most important thing!

There are a countless number of things that can trigger allergic reactions in some individuals. The body's own defense system creates a reaction to certain substances. White blood cells produce antibodies that are designed to seek out and destroy substances that can harm the body. The allergic reactions are simply a result of the body's line of defense. As the antibodies spill out to destroy the threatening substances, symptoms appear.

The antibodies produce and release a kind-of army that serve to protect the body from harmful substances. The army is made up of chemicals and hormones that work as mediators between the body and the substance. One of the most well-known mediators is histamine.

Even thought histamine is designed to protect the body, most people feel allergic reactions to a substance once the histamine mediator appears. The actual symptoms do not appear directly because of the substance, the symptoms result from the mediators, like histamine that are released into the system. When too many mediators or too much of a certain mediator develops in the system, severe allergic reactions can occur.

Since histamine is such a common mediator that tries to help our bodies fight off threatening substances, many people choose to take an antihistamine to control the symptoms. Ironically, we take a medication that is designed to control the symptoms caused by a mediator that is designed to help us.

Our bodies have a strong line of defense and we often find ourselves fighting our own systems to relieve the symptoms of allergic reactions. These reactions can be quite severe and in some cases, life threatening. It is very important to have a comprehensive examination if you experience severe allergic reactions.

Part of the extensive examination should involve your family history as well as a physical. The purpose of the family history information is to establish if you are prone to certain allergic reactions to substances. For example, someone who is suffering from itchy eyes and congestion may communicate that her parents are allergic to cats. This person may also have a physical aversion to cats.

Unfortunately, allergic reactions can interfere with our ability to do the things that we love. They can interfere with our ability to own certain pets unless we are willing to make significant sacrifices. My sister owns three cats. She loves her pets but she has severe allergic reactions to them. Her doctor gives her an allergy shot every month to relieve the symptoms. This may seem extreme but anyone who has loved a pet would understand.

Nearly all of us have experienced them at one time or another. The runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, and sneezing. Symptoms of allergies can strike anytime or anyplace, depending on what the allergy trigger is for an individual. Most allergies are not serious, and can be easily treated at home with homeopathic remedies, over the counter medications, or simple avoidance of the triggers. However, there are some people who have serious allergies that can become life-threatening if they are not treated immediately. This is why it is important to understand the difference between mild, moderate and severe allergy symptoms, and when a health care professional should be involved in the treatment plan.

Mild Symptoms of Allergies

The milder symptoms of allergies are the ones that most of us will experience at one time or another. These symptoms might include itchy, watery eyes and nasal congestion. They can also include a localized skin rash or hives. In the case of milder allergy symptoms, the condition does not spread to other parts of the body. You can usually treat your symptoms effectively at home, using antihistamines or nasal decongestants. Other possible treatment options include eye drops, or topical creams for skin rashes. Most of the time, mild symptoms of allergies do not require a doctor's care, unless the condition lasts for longer than a couple of weeks.

Moderate and Severe Symptoms of Allergies

When symptoms of allergies become moderate to severe, they can spread to other parts of the body. They can also become more dangerous and even life-threatening in some situations. Moderate symptoms of allergies can include itching and difficulty breathing. More severe symptoms might include swelling in various areas of the body, which can make swallowing and breathing difficult. You might also experience digestive symptoms like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. In some cases mental clarity becomes compromised and you might feel dizzy, fuzzy or confused. If you begin to experience any of these symptoms of allergies, it is important to seek medical care immediately. These symptoms could be an indication of anaphylaxis, which is a potentially life-threatening condition.

In most cases, symptoms of allergies are mild and can be effectively treated with over the counter medications and home remedies. However, it is good to know what more severe allergy symptoms look like, so you will be prepared to seek medical help if the situation ever arises. Quick action can mean the difference between life and death for those who suffer from severe allergy symptoms.

If you have these sudden attacks of itchiness, asthma, sneezing, coughing, rashes and red spots all over your body, chances are, you are allergic to something. Common allergies and their symptoms can manifest anytime and anywhere so if you have allergic reactions to some types of foods, smell, pollen and others, you need to be very careful and avoid your allergy triggers. Note that some common allergies and their symptoms can cause some complications in your body. Once medical complications happen, danger comes in. To help you understand common allergies and their symptoms, read on.

Types Of Allergies And Their Triggers

Common allergies and their symptoms can be broadly categorized into outdoor and indoor allergy triggers. Both outdoor and indoor allergies can make your life really miserable so be aware of the things that could trigger your allergic reactions. For instance, the most common allergies and their symptoms may be caused by different kinds of pollen. Pollen may come from trees, weeds, grasses and shrubs.

Technically, pollen is a harmless powdery substance that is emitted by the male plants into the air to pollinate the female plants. In other words, pollen is necessary to make plants grow and bear fruits. Unfortunately, there are people who are allergic to this stuff. Since is made up of very tiny particles and can be inhaled by a person, a person who is allergic to this stuff may suffer from different forms of allergies and symptoms.

In most cases, people who are allergic to pollen will suffer from asthma, allergic rhinitis and others. The weather also contributes much to the degree of the sufferings of those people who are allergic to pollen. According to experts, humidity will amplify the allergic reactions of the person. Since the pollen could become trapped in the moisture, it will stay longer in the air and cause more sufferings to people who are allergic to it. During humid conditions the impact of common allergies and their symptoms could magnify, causing the sufferer to feel extremely uncomfortable.

On the other hand, while the outdoor allergens may be seasonal, indoor allergens can be an all year round bother. People who are living in windowless apartments and those who are living in polluted areas are especially prone to common allergies and symptoms. Molds and mites are usually the culprit. Since the air in the windowless apartment is recycled, allergens are trapped inside the apartment thus the sufferer may experience an all year round coughing and sneezing.

Frequent urination is a common enough problem for men and women with urinary tract infections, prostate problems, diabetes and other health conditions. However, did you know that allergies and frequent urination can go hand in hand, depending on the allergic trigger? That trigger most likely is due to allergies to various types of food depending on your sensitivity.

Celiac Issues

People with celiac disease have a problem with the digestion of gluten products and any ingestion of such products can cause a variety of intestinal issues. A byproduct of this condition with some people is frequent urination. Many foods like bread and pasta contain wheat flour which has gluten properties in it and thus trigger a reaction when eaten. These wheat based allergies and frequent urination are tied together in this respect and only a totally gluten free diet can alleviate the symptoms.

High Acid Food And Drink

Your regular diet could have many potential allergic triggers which can cause frequent potty breaks. Mostly food and drink high in acids can cause allergies and frequent urination but many people may not clue into this cause for quite a while. Only through daily food and drink journals, cataloging everything consumed can the cause of these allergies and frequent urination be pinpointed.

While this food and drink high in acid may not upset the stomach, the way your body digests it could trigger some type of allergic reaction causing the excessive bathroom breaks. No one really knows why this occurs but if frequent urination is interrupting your life, you might want to consider banning high acidic foods and drinks like salsa, sodas, teas, coffee and cranberry juice.

Theories Still Guess Work

The tie between allergies and frequent urination is still somewhat nebulous and some people just seem to have atypical allergic reactions to various substances. The basic consensus is that whatever allergic trigger you have creates a chemical chain reaction in your body. Some people may form hives from eating certain foods while others have diarrhea, nausea and abdominal cramping. The same food that caused the allergies and frequent urination may not do the same thing later when consumed again. Your body is really one big biological, chemical being and your immune system could have simply been malfunctioning at one point.

Allergy Medications

Allergies and frequent urination could also be tied together due to your reaction to the medication used to treat the allergies. Not all drugs are infallible and many of them come with a laundry list of side effects, one of which could be frequent urination.

If frequent urination is a problem, be sure to rule out other health conditions like an enlarged prostate or urinary tract infection first before considering an allergy.

Recognizing a dog allergy symptom and treating it is an option we have today; we do not need to part with our best friend anymore due to allergies.

Fact

As hard as it may be for some to admit that their dearest friend (dog or cat), it is a fact that approximately 10% of the U.S. population suffer from pet allergy.

Dog allergies are caused by a protein present in dog's dander and saliva. All dogs have dander despite the common myth that dogs with shorter hair do not cause allergies.

Dog allergy symptom

A dog allergy symptom is the same the regular allergy symptom – runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing etc. some even experience itchy patches on the skin.

A few steps to preventing dog allergies

* Keep your dog out door or limit him/her to a room which does not have carpeting or furniture. Clean the room daily.
* Usage of a good air filter helps clean the airborne allergens.
* Clean your dog once a week this will get rid of at least some of the allergens in the fur.
* Do not put the clothing used around your dog in the closet – put it straight in the washer.
* Take a shower or clean hands and face after playing/touching the dog.
* There is also available allergen free bedding which can be of great use for your dog allergy symptom.

Treating dog allergy symptom

Since the dog allergy is basically the common allergy but triggered by your dog; the medications used are the same used to cure regular allergies.

* Antihistamines – they help reduce the sneezing, runny nose, itchy and watery eyes. A helpful tip – antihistamines work best when used before exposed to an allergy.
* Decongestants – These temporarily help to clear the stuffy nose. These are best used for short time or else you risk irritating your nose and provoking the whole cycle again.
* Nasal steroid sprays – this reduces the reaction of the nasal tissue to inhaled allergens, helping to reduce swelling in the nose. This is only available by prescription.
* Cromolyn sodium – this is a great nasal spray which helps the body to react to allergens. This is available over the counter and is best used before you are exposed to the allergens.

Dog allergy symptom is as painful as any other allergy. Some dog allergies can be controlled and some cannot, that is for your doctor to decide. I am sure no dog lover will give up their dog because of any dog allergy symptom without trying everything possible to keep him/her.

Allergy symptoms trouble people on a daily basis all around the world. There are substances in food, the atmosphere and in a bed that can make people absolutely miserable. Many of the things that produce allergic reactions cannot be seen by the naked eye. Some of these allergies come from a beautiful flower, a great piece of bread or a comfortable bed. The beautiful flower has substances that will trigger an allergy and make a person miserable with a runny nose or itchy eyes. Some of the allergies are life threatening so people with certain allergies should be very careful about the things that they eat.

Gluten allergy symptoms can be very difficult for the person affected. Gluten is a substance that is in wheat, barley, rye and oats. This substance is an important ingredient in the dough used to make these grains into great food that people eat on a daily basis. Gluten is necessary to the great foods made from these grains so the people with gluten allergy symptoms will have to avoid some of their favorite foods if they do not want to suffer with gluten allergy symptoms.

Gluten Allergy Symptoms Can Be Mysterious

The gluten allergy symptoms appear without warning for people who do not know of their allergies. These symptoms can appear soon after a great meal, and there is not an obvious sign of the problem. There is not a piece of black mold on the bread that would point to the problem. The bread that contains the problem looks great and tastes better. The gluten allergy symptoms suddenly appear a few minutes after eating something that contains gluten. At other times, the gluten allergy symptoms appear some time after eating the food containing gluten.

Gluten allergy symptoms include intestinal cramps that are very painful. Other gluten allergy symptoms are skin rashes that look horrible. The symptoms can also be very similar to those of asthma which can be frightening. The person with the allergy has a difficult time breathing properly. Gluten allergy symptoms include itchy, red eyes that can make it difficult to go out in public for others may think that they could catch some kind of infectious disease. People with these symptoms will not be able to diagnose the problem without the help of medical professionals. They will probably need to have a series of tests to get to the root of the problem.

The symptoms of a food allergy usually appear soon after a person eats something that has an allergen in it. The symptoms of a food allergy could last just a short while or these could signal a very serious condition that could result in death. There are certain foods that seem to be the most common for producing symptoms of a food allergy, and people with these allergies should make sure that they avoid these at all costs. A small bit of a peanut could trigger terrible symptoms of a food allergy in some people.

A person could be eating a tuna sandwich that had picked up a bit of peanut butter from the sandwich next to it. The symptoms of a food allergy appear even though the amount of the allergen is very small. Certain foods are more likely to have serious allergens than others, but these foods can be very dangerous when eaten by the wrong person. Most other people eat these foods with no problems at all. The foods that are often trouble for people with allergies include eggs, milk, peanuts and pistachios. There are other foods that can be added to this list.

Symptoms Of A Food Allergy Require Emergency Response For Some People

Most people have an immune system which eliminates the symptoms of a food allergy, and the problems that come with food allergies. Those who have these allergies should get emergency treatment when the symptoms of a food allergy appear. There is a difference between a food intolerance and a food allergy. People with either of these problems should have a clear understanding of their situation. If they are just intolerant to a certain type of food, they should avoid these foods, but they will not have serious problems if they should eat these.

The people with serious food allergies should be extremely careful that they never end up with any of these foods. The reactions some people have to foods can be life threatening, and death could come soon after the symptoms of a food allergy appear. The symptoms of a food allergy could be very similar to the symptoms of asthma when the person has a very difficult time breathing. Another symptom of a food allergy could be similar to a skin disease. The person may have huge, red welts or bumps all over their body.

Milk is made up of water, protein, carbohydrates (a milk sugar called lactose), minerals, fats and other substances. Milk allergies occur when our bodies react to the proteins in cow's milk, casein and whey, treating them as a foreign substance. Milk allergy symptoms may appear immediately or several hours after the intake of moderate to large amounts of cow's milk.

Mostly children suffer from milk allergies, but most of them get rid of it by the time they are six. Although whey proteins can be broken down by heat, casein proteins are heat-stable and that is why those who are allergic to the latter cannot tolerate any cow's milk, even when it is boiled.

The most common milk allergy symptoms are similar to those of other food allergies: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal cramps, or symptoms involving the skin, such as urticaria, and eczema. Milk allergy symptoms include chronic runny nose, coughing, ear infections, excessive colic, excoriated buttocks, failure to thrive, fluid behind ears, irritability, nasal stuffiness, rash, hives and eczema, recurrent "colds," sinusitis, recurrent bronchitis, recurrent diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and wet and wheezy chest.

Three patterns of milk allergy symptoms have been recognized. In Type 1, milk allergy symptoms appear within minutes after the intake of small volumes of cow's milk. The reactions are visible mainly on the skin: eczema or urticaria, with or without respiratory or gastro-intestinal symptoms.

In Type 2, milk allergy symptoms start several hours after intake of modest volumes of cow's milk. The symptoms in such cases are usually vomiting and diarrhea.

In Type 3, milk allergy symptoms begin to appear after more than 20 hours, or even days after intake of large volumes of cow's milk. The principal symptom here is diarrhea, with or without respiratory or skin reactions.

These milk allergy symptoms are not restricted to those people experiencing a milk allergy.

One, who is familiar with food allergy symptoms, can notice that numerous foods share a variety of common symptoms, such as bloating, rash, and runny nose.

The diagnosis of milk allergy in infants may become easier if the milk energy symptoms started soon after the child began on milk formula. The diagnosis may also be easy if a person shows the same symptoms repeatedly after eating milk-containing food. In older children and adults, the diagnosis is often difficult because milk is usually consumed with other food. Only the milk allergy symptoms that develop after a few minutes are likely to give a positive blood or skin test, as these detect IgE that is involved in the immediate-type reaction.
